Design & Pattern Making

• Pencil or pen

• Sharpie (for pattern tracing)

• Pattern shears (for copper foil method)

• Lightbox (optional, for tracing)

• Scissors (for paper or pattern cutting)

• Printed pattern or flash-style design

• Procreate if designing with an iPad

• Plotter printer if wanting vinyl patterns

Glass Cutting

• Stained glass sheets (various textures/colors)

• Glass cutter (Toyo and Silberschnitt are great)

• Glass cutting oil

• Running pliers (also for curves, Silberschnitts are awesome)

• Grozing pliers

• Cutting surface (cutting board or grid)

• Safety glasses

Grinding

• Glass grinder

• Grinder coolant/ wet sponge

• Water for grinder reservoir

• Dust mask

Foiling

• Copper foil (various widths and various colored backs)

• Fid (foiling tool) or something to press the foil down

• Razor blade (to trim foil)

• Something to cut foil

Soldering

• Soldering iron (80W+ with a temperature control is ideal)

• Solder (60/40 or lead-free)

• Flux (gel, liquid, or paste)

• Flux brush or Q-tip

• Soldering iron stand & cleaning sponge (wet or metal)

• Heat-resistant surface (like a homasote board)

• Fume extractor

• Disposable gloves

• Heat resistant gloves

• Respirator

Finishing

• Patina (black, copper, or antique)

• Neutralizer or baking soda/water solution

• Polishing compound (like carnauba wax)

• Soft cloth

• Pre-tinned copper wire for decorative elements

• Disposable gloves (for patina)

Framing & Hanging

• Zinc came or U-channel lead came for edges

• Came saw if using came

• Metal snips

• Hangers (pre-made jump rings or wire)

• Chain or cord (for hanging)

• Hooks or nails (for display)

Safety & Workspace Essentials

• Safety glasses

• Heat-resistant gloves (optional but helpful)

• Apron

• First aid kit (you’ll go through a few band-aids!)

• Proper lighting

• Good ventilation

• Small broom to keep surfaces clean of glass pieces
